Medical Massage Therapies

Looking for more relaxation and less pain? What if you could also alleviate headaches, ease anxiety, and reduce your blood pressure all at the same time?

Medical Massage is here to help!

Massage is no longer just a luxury. It’s a way to a healthier, happier life

Types of massage therapies offered:

Deep Tissue Medical Massage:

Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.

This form is typically used for chronic pain patterns, repetitive strain, postural problems and recovery from an injury. Common modalities included in this massage are Neuromuscular Therapy (trigger point) and Myofascial Release followed by gentle stretching of the area treated.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (or MLD):

Lymphatic drainage is another therapeutic form of massage. Contrary to the deep tissue massage modalities, this type of body work uses very light pressure to stimulate the Lymphatic System which allows for quicker cellular detoxification.

It is most widely used in health conditions that require assistance in draining excess fluid build-up, water retention, and surgical recovery. It’s also a perfect addition to clearing sinuses when recovering from a recent cold or allergy condition. Lymphatic drainage is all about the flushing of your system, so it’s ultra-important to drink lots of water afterward!

*An initial consultation with Dr. Miller is required for all new MLD patients where she will evaluate and customize a proper care plan for post-surgical patients

For more information on this specific modality check out our more detailed blog post.

Sports Massage:

This massage technique is designed specifically for those who are involved in physical activity; although you don’t necessarily have to be a professional athlete to benefit.

A no-nonsense massage that aims to stretch tight muscles, stimulate inactive muscles, and improve soft tissue conditions. Sports specific massage focuses on treating specific injured areas that allow for quicker recovery. Getting you back to the sport you love faster.

Structural Integration:

This type of bodywork focuses on the connective tissue, or fascia, of the body. This very specific approach aims to lengthen, stretch, and soften fascia in order to restore and correct postural imbalances.

Pregnancy (or Prenatal) Massage:

This highly specialized massage can help support a healthy pregnancy, labor and delivery. A nurturing massage that focuses on the special needs of mothers-to-be to increase circulation, reduce stress, lessen water retention, relieve aches and pains, and reduce anxiety and depression.

Like all of our treatments, this massage is also customized for each individual patient where this one concentrates mostly on the lower back, hips, shoulders, legs and feet.

The therapists that provide this therapy in our clinic have special certifications in prenatal massage to best provide the safest and highest quality of care.

  • I cannot thank Dr. Julee and her professional staff enough for my well being. The treatments I have received have improved my health and my GP is happy with the improvement as well. It takes a woman to recognize and treat women issues. Masseuse Denise is wonderful as well. She puts me back together each time. I love they are all a part of my healthcare team!
