Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.
This form is typically used for chronic pain patterns, repetitive strain, postural problems and recovery from an injury. Common modalities included in this massage are Neuromuscular Therapy (trigger point) and Myofascial Release followed by gentle stretching of the area treated.
Lymphatic drainage is another therapeutic form of massage. Contrary to the deep tissue massage modalities, this type of body work uses very light pressure to stimulate the Lymphatic System which allows for quicker cellular detoxification.
It is most widely used in health conditions that require assistance in draining excess fluid build-up, water retention, and surgical recovery. It’s also a perfect addition to clearing sinuses when recovering from a recent cold or allergy condition. Lymphatic drainage is all about the flushing of your system, so it’s ultra-important to drink lots of water afterward!
